STOKE ON TRENT 2025

This year our city is celebrating

A 100 years of innovating,

Creating pottery most breath-taking.

But, gone are the pots, pits and smoke,

What’s taking its place is a greener Stoke,

An intriguing landscape, quite bespoke.

Gone is the hard labour, factory grind,

A changing society, but still caring and kind,

A ‘get up and go’ mindset, so we won’t lag behind.

We’re all for diversity, inclusion and an attitude that’s “woke”,

That’s the heart of the Stokie folk:

Adaptable, friendly, welcoming - we croak.

We’ve been melded and moulded for sure,

Put to the test much to endure,

But we are changing with grace, I am sure.

The Potteries is edgy, quirky and spread out for miles,

Mention its name and you’ll get smiles,

Like it or not, it always beguiles.

For Stoke, once regarded as a dump in decline,

Is levelling up to something sublime,

We just need more money and a little more time.

It’s out with the old and in with the new,

While carefully preserving history for you,

A mammoth task, phew!

Disappearing are the days when we were regarded as uncouth,

We’re investing in education and youth,

Building a society that values honesty and truth.

With a council, a dedicated crew,

And private enterprise to steer in the new -

We’ll have a proud city others will want to view.

But it’s still up to us residents, one and all,

Known for our spirit and resourceful gall,

Who must strive hard, so we don’t fall.

Times are challenging, I won’t lie,

But come on Stokies lets try

Do our best and reach for the sky.

Come on Stokies, me duck

Don’t let’s come unstuck

Give your best and trust to luck.

BE PROUD… STOKE ON TRENT IS A GREAT CITY.
